WordCamp Minneapolis – St Paul

2010-11-02 by Johan

2010 WordCamp Minneapolis and St. Paul Attendee

This wasn’t really expected, was it?

I will be attending my 3rd WordCamp this year, this time it’s WordCamp Minneapolis-St Paul.

For some reason I thought I’d just have a look at the main WordCamp site (I knew I just missed WordCamp NY by a couple of weeks) and to my surprise I found that WordCamp MSP is taking place on the 13th of November, when I’m in the Twin City area! (And just the day after my birthday too, so I’ll take it as a late birthday present ;) ).

For the sake of world peace I had call my wife and check if it was ok that I’m attending a [/yet another] geek-meet while we are on holiday and the lovely wife she is she said it was OK! Bless her!

I have only had a quick glance at the schedule but it looks very nice! Something to cater for every level of experience in WordPress.

Wow, I’m really excited and can’t fully digest how lucky I am to attend yet another WordCamp this year!

WordCamp Stockholm – Day 1

2010-10-24 by Johan

More than halfway through WordCamp Stockholm 2010. So far it has been a great event, met a lot of very nice people, too many to mention in fact. The Swedish WordPress community is thriving. It’s an enthusiastic crowd and it’s very interesting to see that the “share and enjoy” spirit is very much present.

Day 1 was the “speaker session” day, it offered a wide range of topics; SEO, theme anatomy, frameworks for multisite installs, cloud implementation, security and more. A few of the attendees stayed the night to create plugins or modify themes.

Spending the night at the Science Museum was quite nice, and we could walk around among the exhibitions (well a few of them on the floor where the WordCamp is held) and I even found a nice sofa to get some sleep.

Sessions and networking

Attending an unconference is interesting! Jumping between sessions, very diverse and interesting subjects. And then there is the networking. Meeting new people, trying to hear their perspective on anything from tradtional book publising to WiFi-router configurations that cover an entire island. An organised chaos!

SSWC 2010

It’s almost time! Time for Sweden Social Web Camp! And I’m going there this year.

Sweden Social Web Camp is an unconference held on the small island of Tjärö in Blekinge. It’s a gathering where people who work with social media meet for a weekend to learn and discuss the social media landscape. (more…)
